2D Standing Wave Field

Closed-form membrane normal modes as a heatmap and a live 3D surface, in pure JavaScript.

See it run - a worked example, 100% in this browser tab

The problem

Visualizing rectangular-membrane eigenmodes and their nodal structure usually means a plotting script rather than an instant, shareable view.

The local-first solution

This plugin evaluates the exact closed-form normal mode u = sin(m pi x) sin(n pi y) on the unit square in the browser and renders both a heatmap and a 3D surface bound to the shared viewport.

What it does

Closed-form (m, n) membrane normal mode on the unit square
Eigenfrequency omega = pi sqrt(m^2 + n^2) reported per mode
Nodal-line count derived from the mode numbers
Color heatmap of the field u(x,y)
3D surface bound to the shared viewport

Honest scope

Exact closed-form algebra validated against the analytic membrane eigenmode (nodal lines at x = k/m, y = k/n). Because it routes no GeoNum drift, the trust pill is honestly marked untracked rather than reporting a fabricated verdict. A visualization tool, not certified acoustic design software.

Render a normal mode

Visualize the mode in the browser and save the result to Sandbox, attach it to a Worklog case, or route it into a Gate client portal. Nothing is uploaded to anyone's cloud.
