Plasma physics and MHD, simulated in your browser

GDBS runs plasma equilibrium and ideal-MHD stability solves directly in the browser, with no cluster allocation or queue. The same deterministic inputs produce the same outputs every run, so a result is reproducible by anyone who opens the page. It is a bridge to full HPC gyrokinetic and MHD codes, not a replacement for them.

What it computes

Validated results

Verified Taylor-state force-free spheromak eigenfunction, checked by an independent RK4 integration against the analytic Bessel form J0(lambda r): maximum error 2.87e-9 across the profile. Reference: Taylor 1974, PRL 33, 1139.

Self-check Tokamak ideal-MHD no-wall beta limit. This is a numerical-consistency test, not a data match: the computed limit lands inside the Troyon band [2, 6]. References: Troyon et al. 1984; Soloviev 1968.

Honest scope

These are equilibrium and stability solves intended for method development and teaching. They are a bridge to full gyrokinetic and MHD HPC runs, and do not substitute for them.
